Massive Camper Van Blaze Sparks Hay Barn Inferno Near Totton
A huge fire has erupted on Salisbury Road near Totton this afternoon, sparking a major emergency response. It all started when a camper van went up in flames, quickly igniting a nearby barn stacked with around 500 bales of hay.
Eight Fire Engines Battle Growing Blaze
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service rushed eight fire engines to the scene by 4pm, along with water carriers and specialist vehicles. Firefighters in breathing apparatus are battling the blaze with four jets, trying to stop it from spreading further.
Smoke Warning for Locals and Drivers
A spokesperson urged locals, especially around junction 2 of the M27, to keep windows and doors shut as smoke drifts across the area. Drivers are also warned to exercise caution when travelling nearby.
Emergency Crews Brace for Hours at the Scene
The fire service continues to work tirelessly to control the inferno. Crews are expected to remain on site for several hours as they work to contain the flames and prevent any more damage.
