Trowbridge Driver Banned for Three Years After Bizarre Police Chase
High-Speed Chase Ends in Shocking Escape
A Trowbridge man has been slapped with a three-year driving ban after a wild police pursuit that saw him flee his car while it was still moving—and watch it crash into a garden.
On 22 May 2024, Blerim Losha, 31, from Yeoman Way, was caught speeding at 70mph in a 40mph zone on County Way. Wiltshire Police’s Roads Policing Unit spotted the dangerous driver and gave chase.
Losha sped through Bradley Road and Yeoman Way before reaching Sleightholme Court. In a desperate move, he jumped out of his vehicle as it rolled uncontrollably onto a pavement and into a nearby garden.
Arrest and Drug Driving Charges
Officers quickly tracked Losha back to his home, where he was arrested after failing a roadside drug test. Lab analysis later confirmed he was driving above the legal drug limit.
He faced charges for:
- Failing to stop for police
- Careless driving
- Driving under the influence of drugs
Court Hits Out With Tough Penalties
At Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 13 November 2024, Losha pled guilty to all offences. Judge handed down:
- A three-year driving disqualification
- A £760 fine
- A £308 victim surcharge
- £85 court costs
Police Warn Against Reckless Drug Driving
A spokesperson from Wiltshire Police blasted Losha’s actions:
“This case highlights the reckless and dangerous behaviour exhibited by drug drivers. Leaving a moving vehicle demonstrates a complete disregard for public safety. We hope this outcome serves as a deterrent for anyone thinking of driving under the influence of drugs.”
The incident is a stark warning: drug driving endangers everyone. And Wiltshire Police are ready to act fast to protect the public.
