Seven individuals arrested on 27 November remain in custody following the issuance of warrants of further detention, allowing officers to detain them until Monday, 9 December.

The arrests, carried out at multiple locations across London, targeted specific individuals suspected of links to terrorist activity. Those in custody include:

  • [A] a 59-year-old woman
  • [B] a 27-year-old man
  • [C] a 31-year-old woman
  • [D] a 62-year-old man
  • [E] a 56-year-old man
  • [F] a 23-year-old man
  • [G] a 31-year-old man

All were detained under Section 41(1) of the Terrorism Act, 2000.

Search Operations Completed

Searches of eight addresses across London have now been completed, and all properties have been returned to their respective owners.

Acting Commander Helen Flanagan, from the Counter Terrorism Command, stated:

“Our officers continue to work around the clock to gather and review evidence as part of this investigation into what are very serious allegations.

“These arrests have been targeted at specific individuals suspected of being linked to terrorist activity. I want to reassure the community that our activity is being carried out to keep everyone safe from potential harm.”

Financial Investigation

As part of the probe, officers have obtained Account Freezing Orders for two financial accounts suspected of being used to support or fund terrorist activities linked to the PKK. Relevant parties have been notified.

Community Impact and Engagement

Detective Chief Superintendent Caroline Haines, leading local policing in Haringey, acknowledged the investigation’s impact on the Kurdish community, particularly due to the temporary closure of a Community Centre during searches. The centre has now been returned to its owners.

She added:

“We continue to hold regular meetings with Kurdish community members to keep them updated and address any concerns during this difficult time. I want to thank the local community for their ongoing support and understanding.”

Increased police patrols and meetings with community leaders, local authorities, and resident groups are ongoing to provide reassurance and address concerns.
