Man Arrested After Failing to Stop During M25 Police Chase

 

A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of multiple driving offenses after a high-speed police chase on the M25 ended in a crash.

The Incident

At around 2:18 a.m. on Monday, 9 December, officers attempted to stop a blue VW Golf reportedly speeding on the M25 anticlockwise near Orpington. The driver failed to stop, leading police on a chase that continued onto the A21.

The pursuit came to an end when the vehicle crashed. The driver was taken to the hospital for medical treatment before being transferred to police custody.

Arrest Details

A Surrey Police spokesperson confirmed the man was arrested on suspicion of:

  • Dangerous driving
  • Failing to stop for police
  • Driving while unfit through drink or drugs
  • Driving without insurance
  • Driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence
  • Failing to cooperate with a preliminary test
  • Failing to wear a seat belt

Road Closures

The A21 was closed westbound between junction 4 of the M25 and the A224 at Badgers Mount while officers investigated and cleared the scene. Motorists heading towards Orpington were advised to use junctions 3 or 5 as alternative exits.

Appeal for Information

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to come forward. Witnesses can contact Surrey Police on 101, quoting the incident details.
