Garage Blaze Sparks Major Fire Squad Response in Brighton
Flames tore through a domestic garage on Green Ridge, Brighton, today, sparking a massive emergency response from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS). The alarm was raised at 11:28 a.m., sending four fire engines rushing to the scene.
Blaze Intensifies, More Fire Engines Join Fight
The fire quickly ramped up, forcing an escalation in resources. By 12:20 p.m., eight fire engines and an aerial ladder platform were battling the inferno. The garage, attached to a home and storing six vehicles, complicated efforts to control the blaze.
Thankfully, all residents have been accounted for with no injuries reported. Officials have urged locals to steer clear of the area while crews tackle the fire.
Roof Collapse and Thick Smoke Cause Havoc
The intense blaze caused the garage roof to partially collapse. Firefighters deployed specialist firefighting foam and the aerial platform to douse stubborn flames.
Smoke billowing from the fire has spread across the neighbourhood. Residents nearby are advised to keep doors and windows firmly shut to avoid inhaling the hazardous fumes.
“Our crews are working tirelessly to contain the fire and ensure the safety of the surrounding properties. We appreciate the cooperation of local residents in staying clear of the area,” said an ESFRS spokesperson.

As of 1:00 p.m., firefighters remain at the scene, fighting to bring the fire under control. Once the flames are extinguished, investigators will probe the cause of this dramatic garage fire.
