A man has been arrested on suspicion of double murder following a shocking stabbing incident on Christmas Day in Bletchley, Buckinghamshire.
Police were called to a block of apartments on Santa Cruz Avenue at around 6:30 p.m. yesterday. Upon arrival, officers discovered two women, aged 38 and 24, who had suffered fatal injuries. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
A teenage boy and a man in his late 20s were also found with serious injuries and were transported to the hospital, where they remain in stable condition. Additionally, a dog injured in the attack was taken to a veterinary clinic but sadly did not survive.
Suspect in Custody
Thames Valley Police have arrested a 49-year-old man from Milton Keynes on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Brangwin, leading the investigation, said:
“Firstly, I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the families of the women who have tragically died in this shocking incident.
“We have launched a double murder investigation, which may be concerning to the wider public; however, we have made an arrest and are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident. The parties are known to each other.”
Community Reassurance
The area around Santa Cruz Avenue has seen a significant police presence as forensic officers comb the scene for evidence. Police have assured the public that the incident appears to be isolated and poses no ongoing threat to the wider community.
DCI Brangwin added:
“Members of the public will see a large police presence in the area while our investigation takes place. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to approach our officers, and they will do their best to help.”
