Detectives are hunting for answers after a 70-year-old woman was found dead at a Newton Poppleford home last Friday.
Tragic Discovery on Lark Rise
Police were called to a property on Lark Rise around 1:15pm on Friday, 17 January following concerns for the woman’s welfare. Emergency services arrived quickly but sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ongoing Investigation and Arrest
Officers have confirmed that enquiries are ongoing to find the woman’s next of kin. A police cordon initially sealed off the property but has since been lifted.
Detective Inspector Guy Biggar from the Major Crime Investigation Team revealed:
“It is believed that the deceased and the suspect are known to each other. We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.” “We are appealing for anyone with information that could help us with our enquiries to please come forward.”
A 67-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He is currently on bail as investigations continue.
