Police Continue Hunt for Suspect After Woman Found Dead in Woolwich Flat

Police are intensifying their search for a suspect in connection with the murder of a 43-year-old woman found dead in a Woolwich flat.

The Metropolitan Police were called at 5:25 PM on January 17 to an address on Argyll Road following concerns for the welfare of a resident. Upon gaining entry, officers discovered the woman’s body inside the property.

Cause of Death Determined

A post-mortem examination conducted on January 18 concluded that the cause of death was blunt force trauma and a head injury. While the woman’s next of kin have been informed, formal identification has yet to take place.

Investigation Ongoing

Detectives from Specialist Crime South are leading the investigation. Early inquiries suggest the victim knew the suspect. However, no arrests have been made at this stage.

Detective Chief Inspector Suzanne Soren said:

“This is a deeply tragic incident, and our thoughts are very much with the victim’s family, who are being supported by specialist officers. At this early stage, we believe the suspect was known to the victim, and we are carrying out urgent enquiries to trace a named individual.”
