Police Step Up Hunt for Killer After Woman Found Dead in Woolwich Flat
Woman, 43, Dies from Head Injuries
Police launched a frantic search for a suspect after a 43-year-old woman was found dead inside a Woolwich flat. Officers were called to an Argyll Road address at 5:25 PM on January 17 following welfare concerns.
When they forced entry, they discovered the woman’s body. A post-mortem on January 18 revealed blunt force trauma and a severe head injury as the cause of death. While next of kin have been informed, formal identification is still pending.
Known Suspect Still At Large
Detectives from Specialist Crime South have taken charge of the investigation. Early leads suggest the victim knew the suspect, but no arrests have been made so far.
“This is a deeply tragic incident, and our thoughts are very much with the victim’s family, who are being supported by specialist officers. At this early stage, we believe the suspect was known to the victim, and we are carrying out urgent enquiries to trace a named individual,” said Detective Chief Inspector Suzanne Soren.
