Man Charged Following Knife Attack in Lewisham

A 66-year-old man has been charged in connection with a violent attack at a petrol station in Lewisham.

Fitzgerald Carty, of Dacre Park, Lewisham, is facing charges of possession of a knife and attempted grievous bodily harm with intent. He will appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 27 January.

The incident occurred at approximately 3pm on Saturday, 25 January, at a petrol station on Lee High Road. It is alleged that Carty, armed with a knife, attacked a man in his 40s.

Quick-thinking local police officer PC Morgan Younger, who was on patrol nearby, intervened and arrested Carty at the scene. The suspect was taken into custody and charged on the evening of Sunday, 26 January.

The victim, whose condition is currently unknown, was treated at the scene. Investigations into the attack are ongoing.
