Margate Rape Inquiry Closed: No New Suspects After Police Probe
Detectives in Margate have shut down their investigation into a reported rape after interviewing witnesses and sifting through all the evidence.
Incident on Promenade Sparks Full-Scale Probe
On the evening of Tuesday, 21 January 2025, Kent Police were alerted to a man being raped near Ethelbert Crescent promenade. Officers launched a thorough inquiry that included forensic tests, witness interviews, and CCTV footage analysis.
No Further Suspects, Case Now Closed
After exhausting all angles, police confirmed there are no additional suspects connected to the case. The investigation is officially concluded.
Detective Inspector Richard Palmer said: “Kent Police take reports of sexual offences seriously and work hard to explore all lines of enquiry. We thank everyone who helped during this investigation.”
“We want to reassure the public there is no wider risk to the community. Margate remains a safe place to live and work.”
Kent Police have made it clear that no further action is needed at this time.
