Train Damaged in “Disturbance” at Queenborough: Passengers Report Windows “Shot” or Catapulted

Passengers on board a train traveling from Sheerness to Queenborough were left shocked and shaken after the train was reportedly attacked by people outside, leaving several windows damaged.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:15pm this afternoon, when the train came under attack from outside the station. Passengers aboard the train reported hearing a series of loud bangs, which they described as windows being “shot” or “catapulted” by individuals standing outside the train.

Around seven windows were damaged in the apparent attack, causing distress among passengers who were on board during the incident. No injuries have been reported so far, but passengers were understandably concerned by the disturbance.

One eyewitness described the event: “We were just sitting on the train when we heard a loud bang, then another and another. People outside seemed to be targeting the windows with some sort of projectile, and it happened so quickly. It was a frightening experience.”

British Transport Police have been notified, and officers are investigating the incident. They are currently gathering witness statements and reviewing any available CCTV footage from the train and surrounding area to identify the individuals responsible for the attack.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said, “We are taking this matter very seriously. There is no room for any form of violence or vandalism on the rail network, and we are working to establish the full circumstances of what occurred at Queenborough station.

The train was halted following the disturbance, and services were delayed while repairs to the damaged windows were made. Passengers were advised to take alternative transport while the situation was resolved.

Authorities are urging anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation. They have asked anyone with relevant footage, including dashcam or CCTV, to share it with the police.

The incident has prompted concerns about safety on trains, with some passengers calling for increased security and stronger measures to protect travelers from similar attacks in the future.

As investigations continue, British Transport Police have assured the public that they are working hard to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for this attack, which caused significant disruption to the local transport network.

Anyone with information regarding the attack is encouraged to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40. Alternatively, information can be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
