Liverpool Man Jailed for Child Sex Offences and Upskirting

A 63-year-old man from Liverpool has been sentenced to two years in prison for a range of offences involving indecent images of children and upskirting. Mark Harrison, of Sheil Road, Kensington, pleaded guilty to six charges relating to indecent photographs of children, classified as Category A, B, and C, five charges of recording images under clothing without consent (upskirting), and one charge of possessing extreme pornographic images. He was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday, Monday, 3 February.

Harrison’s arrest came after officers, acting on intelligence received, executed a warrant at his home in March 2022. During the search, a number of digital devices were seized and sent for forensic examination, which subsequently uncovered the illicit material.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Atkinson commented on the case, stating:

“We have a duty to protect our communities from harm and to deter individuals from committing these types of horrific offences and we will continue to seek to identify and convict those who engage in this behaviour. I hope this sentencing encourages anyone who has been a victim of any sexual offence to please contact us.

“We have a specialist team ready to treat you with respect, care and compassion and make sure that reports are properly and thoroughly investigated. If you have experienced any form of sexual abuse, or know of a child being abused, please come forward and report this to us. We have a dedicated team of specially trained officers who will treat you with sensitivity and compassion and will do everything we can to bring offenders to justice.”

For children or young people experiencing sexual or physical abuse, support is available through the NSPCC (0808 800 5000 or [email address removed]) and Childline (0800 1111).
