Man in Critical Condition After Early Morning Attack in Southend

Violent Scene on Greyhound Way

Police rushed to Greyhound Way at around 5am on Sunday, February 16, after reports of a seriously injured man. Officers found the victim inside a nearby property on Stadium Road, suffering life-threatening wounds. He was rushed to hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Woman Also Injured

Inside the same address, police discovered a woman with injuries. Fortunately, her condition is not life-threatening. She is currently being treated in hospital.

Arrest Made in Attempted Murder

A 21-year-old man from Southend has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody for questioning. Police believe all parties involved knew each other, ruling out a random attack.

Serious Crime Investigation Underway

Essex Police’s Serious Crime Directorate is leading the investigation. A cordon remains in place around Greyhound Way and Stadium Road as forensic teams comb the scene for evidence.

“At this stage, our priority is establishing the circumstances of this incident. That’s why you’ll see officers in the area, maintaining a presence and carrying out enquiries,” said Detective Chief Inspector Terry Balding.

“We have established the incident was confined to a single address, between people known to each other. An arrest was swiftly made, and I am confident there is no ongoing threat to the public.”
