A violent scuffle broke out at Westfield Stratford shopping centre on Friday evening, leaving a security guard injured. The drama unfolded near one of the main entrances at around 7:30pm on 21 February, sparking chaos among evening shoppers.
Security Guard Assaulted Amid Crowds
Police were called after reports of a disturbance involving Westfield’s security staff. Officers found the guard with minor injuries after being assaulted during the fracas. Witnesses described frantic scenes as crowds gathered, with bystanders shouting “stop it” while the guard lay on the floor.
21-Year-Old Arrested on Suspicion of ABH
A 21-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of actual bodily harm (ABH). He has since been released on police bail while investigations continue.
“Around 7.30pm on Friday, 21 February, police attended Westfield Stratford City following reports that a man had assaulted staff at a shop. One staff member suffered minor injuries. A 21-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of actual bodily harm. He has been released on police bail pending investigation,” a Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed.

Westfield Stratford has yet to comment officially on the incident. As enquiries continue, police are urging anyone who saw the attack or captured it on camera to get in touch.
