Drink Driver Caught Before School Route Horror
A dad who tried to drive a school bus while smashed behind the wheel has been slapped with a two-year ban. Nelam Singh, 53, from Southsea, was nabbed on the M27 near Nursling at 6.30am on Thursday, 17 February.
Off-Duty Cop Spots Reckless Driving
Singh was caught weaving all over the motorway by an off-duty police officer. Breath tests revealed he had 101 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath — nearly three times over the legal limit. He was heading to drive a bus carrying more than 70 kids.

At court on Tuesday, Singh was banned from driving for two years. He must also complete 150 hours of unpaid work and cough up £180 in costs and a surcharge.
“Not only did Singh put himself and other road users in danger by choosing to get behind the wheel impaired, but he was also set to endanger a large number of school children,” said Sgt Richard Miell from the Roads Policing Unit.
“Thankfully, swift action from our off-duty officer stopped a potential tragedy.”
“Most drivers don’t drink and drive, but for those who do, the message is clear — it’s not worth it. The risks can be fatal.”
