Three teenage girls have been charged with manslaughter following the death of 75-year-old Fredi Rivero, who was attacked at a bus stop on Seven Sisters Road, Islington.
Incident Details
The shocking attack took place at approximately 11:35 PM on Thursday, February 29. According to prosecutors, the teenage girls surrounded Mr. Rivero, pushing, shoving, kicking, and punching him.
One of the defendants is alleged to have recorded the incident on her mobile phone, the court heard.
Emergency services, including Metropolitan Police officers and paramedics, attended the scene, providing medical assistance. Mr. Rivero was transported to the hospital, where he sadly died the following day.
Arrests & Court Hearing
The three girls, aged 14, 16, and 17, were initially arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) but were later charged with manslaughter following Mr. Rivero’s death.
The teenagers, who cannot be named due to their age, appeared at Highbury Corner Youth Court on Monday, March 3.
Prosecutors described how the teenagers got off a bus, surrounded the elderly man, and then returned to assault him after initially walking away.
The Chair of the bench, Alexia Fetherstonhaugh, ordered the defendants to be remanded into youth detention accommodation until their next hearing at the Old Bailey on March 31.

Local residents have expressed shock and outrage, describing the incident as a “senseless act of violence“.
