Former England Star in ‘Good Spirits’ Despite Health Scare

Former England footballer Stuart Pearce, 62, has provided an update on his health after suffering a medical emergency while on a flight from the United States.

Emergency Landing in Canada

  • Pearce had been in Las Vegas to watch the rugby league match between Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves.
  • During his return flight to London Heathrow on Sunday, March 2, he became unwell and required urgent treatment.
  • The Virgin Atlantic flight made an emergency landing at St John’s International Airport in Canada, where Pearce received further medical care.

TalkSPORT Colleague Provides Update

Football commentator Sam Matterface, who works alongside Pearce at talkSPORT, revealed he had spoken to him and shared an update on his condition.

“I spoke to him yesterday, he’s in great spirits. He isn’t 100%, but he is in the right place, in hospital, and they are dealing with it.”

Despite his health setback, Pearce was reportedly frustrated about missing upcoming football games and a Mumford & Sons concert he had planned to attend.

Tributes from Nottingham Forest Fans

At City Ground, home of Nottingham Forest—where Pearce made 401 appearances during a 12-year stint—a message was displayed on the big screen after three minutes of their Premier League match against Manchester City on Saturday (March 8).

The tribute read:
“Get Well Soon Stuart”
This was in recognition of Pearce’s old shirt number three at the club.

England and Club Career

  • Pearce, who also played for Manchester City, earned 78 caps for England.
  • He was part of the 1990 World Cup squad, helping England reach the semi-finals.
