Three Teenage Girls Face Trial Over Death of Pensioner in Bus Stop Attack

Three teenage girls are set to face trial over the alleged manslaughter of a 75-year-old man following a violent street attack in north London.

Fredi Rivero was attacked near a bus stop on Seven Sisters Road in Islington at approximately 11.35pm on Tuesday, 27 February. He was taken to hospital but tragically died the following day.

Mr Rivero, believed to be a Bolivian national, was reportedly surrounded by the girls—aged 14, 16, and 17—after they got off a bus. The trio allegedly pushed, kicked, punched, and shoved him, with one of the girls filming the disturbing incident on her phone.

All three teenagers have since been charged with manslaughter.

The case was brought before Judge Mark Lucraft KC at the Old Bailey on Thursday for a preliminary hearing. The defendants, who cannot be named due to their age, did not attend court. They currently remain in custody.

A plea hearing has been scheduled for 23 May, with a provisional trial date set for 1 December 2025. The judge stated that any application for bail would be considered at a later stage, once CCTV footage of the incident has been reviewed.

Previously, the Metropolitan Police described Mr Rivero as a “much-loved father,” adding that his family have been left “devastated by his death.”

The investigation remains ongoing as the community comes to terms with the shocking loss.

Anyone with information or witnesses to the incident is urged to contact police.
