Southampton Sting Nets Immigration Offenders and Protects Slavery Victims
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police teamed up with the Modern Slavery and Organised Immigration Crime Team for a bold crackdown in Southampton’s Shirley area on the evening of 13th March 2025.
Delivery Riders Stopped, Three Immigration Offences Under Investigation
The operation targeted vulnerable people potentially trapped in modern slavery. Officers spoke to about eight delivery riders, leading to the identification of three separate immigration offences now under active investigation.
Details about the suspects remain under wraps, but support services will help any victims found during the sweep.
Police Vow to Fight Exploitation and Organised Crime
“These joint operations are vital in helping us protect some of the most vulnerable members of our community and to tackle organised immigration crime. We are committed to ensuring people are not exploited or coerced into illegal or unsafe working conditions,” a police spokesperson said.
