Police have confirmed that 82-year-old Robert, also known as Bob, who was reported missing earlier today from Mottingham (SE9), has now been safely located.
The Greenwich Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) issued an appeal earlier this morning after Bob was last seen at 10:00am. Officers described him as 6ft tall, with white short hair and a white moustache, wearing a navy padded jacket and blue jeans.
The public was urged to assist in locating him, with a significant response across social media helping to spread the appeal quickly throughout the community.
Just a few hours later, Greenwich MPS confirmed that Bob had been found safe and well, thanking members of the public for their support:
“Bob has been located safe and well, thank you for your help.”
Police have not released further details about the circumstances of his recovery but have expressed gratitude for the swift response from local residents and social media users who helped raise awareness.
This incident highlights the value of community engagement and rapid information sharing in missing person cases.
