Restaurant Issues Warning After Diners Refuse to Pay £300 Bill at Jumeira Staplehurst

A popular restaurant in Staplehurst has issued a public warning after a group of diners allegedly walked out on a substantial bill, leaving staff and fellow customers shocked.

Jumeira Staplehurst, known for its quality dining and attentive service, reported that the individuals in question visited the restaurant on Sunday evening, enjoying a full meal and even ordering additional takeaway items before allegedly refusing to pay in full.

According to staff, service throughout the evening was smooth, and team members regularly checked in to ensure the diners were satisfied — with no complaints raised at the time.

However, when it came to settling the bill, estimated to be close to £300, the group reportedly claimed they were unhappy with both the meal and the service, and stated they would not be paying. Staff said the group became argumentative, not only with employees but also with other diners who challenged their behaviour.

Despite consuming their meals and collecting takeaway items to take to their car, the group left behind just £30, prompting outrage from staff and guests alike.

In a statement shared by the restaurant, Jumeira said:

“Beware of the individuals in the photos below. They dined with us on Sunday evening and received the same high standard of service we provide to all our guests. They had the cheek to order takeaway items — which they collected and placed in their car — before claiming they were unhappy with their meal and refusing to pay the full amount.

They argued with our staff and other diners, and left just £30 after running up a bill near enough £300. These individuals are no longer welcome in any of our establishments. To the diners who stood up for our team — we truly appreciate your support.”

The restaurant has since shared images of the individuals on social media in a bid to prevent similar incidents and identify those involved.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the restaurant directly.
