Fresh Police Appeal: Hunt On for Murder Suspect’s Distinctive Backpack in Brixton
Detectives are stepping up the search for a key piece of evidence in the murder of Troy Ramsundar in Brixton. The Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command have released images of a blue Herschel rucksack with brown straps and a pink or orange striped lining, believed to belong to the suspect. Officers suspect the bag was dumped near Brockwell Park.
Suspect Spotted in Brockwell Park Early Morning
The suspect was caught on CCTV entering Brockwell Park from Brixton Water Lane at 5:15am on Thursday, 20 March, and leaving about 30 minutes later near the crossroads of Norwood Road and Dulwich Road. At the time, the man wore a dark jacket, light grey hooded top, dark face mask, dark trousers, shiny shoes, and possibly red-brown gloves.
Witnesses Sought at Bus Stop and Park Area
Police urge anyone who was at the Brixton Road bus stop Q between 4:30am and 5:15am that day to come forward. The stop is served by buses 2, 3, 196, 415, 432, N2 & N3. Authorities believe Troy was selling packets of crisps nearby, including to those waiting for the bus.
“Did you see Troy that evening? This may seem like an insignificant detail but it could help us piece together the events of that night,” said Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, leading the investigation.
Two Weeks On: Police Hope Community Can Crack Case
Tomorrow marks two weeks since Troy’s tragic death. Police will hold a witness appeal at 4am on Brixton Road and will be on hand to speak with anyone who has information. DCI Howie said:
“We are making significant progress, but we still need information. Please help us bring answers to Troy’s family.”

At around 5:10am on 20 March, emergency services were called to Brixton Road, SW9, after reports of a stabbing. Despite efforts by officers and the London Ambulance Service, 34-year-old Troy Ramsundar was pronounced dead at the scene. A man has been charged with murder, but detectives continue piecing together what happened.
