Emergency services were called in the early hours of Wednesday morning (April 17) following reports of a person in the water near Evelyn Road, Silvertown, London in East London.
At just after midnight, officers from the Metropolitan Police were dispatched to assist with an incident involving a female believed to be in the water.
A Police cordon has been put in place and a major search operation has been launched
A coordinated operation involving police and specialist marine units from the Met Polcie Boat teams from the London Fire Brigade and “HART” Teams from the London Ambulance service have joined a search of the surrounding area.
The scene is located near the River Thames, close to several residential and industrial developments in East London.
As of this morning, no official confirmation has been released on whether the woman has been found. Police have not yet disclosed further details about her identity or the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Local residents reported a strong emergency presence overnight, including police vehicles and search teams along the waterfront.
