Brutal Abuser Jailed for Beastly Attacks on Girlfriend
Richard Robson, 35, has been locked up after admitting to a horrific spree of violence against his partner. The Lunsford Lane man battered his victim with a belt and even beat her with a beer bottle, leaving her terrified for months.
Months of Torture Uncovered
The shocking abuse spanned from November 2019 to July 2020. It all came to light when kent-police/" title="Kent Police" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Kent Police were called on 20 July after Robson doused the victim with beer, then smashed an empty bottle over her head and face.
Police investigation revealed a nightmare of repeated assaults—punches, strangling, and terrifying threats to kill her pets. Robson also cut her off from family and friends, isolating her completely.
Court Verdict: Jail and Restraining Order
Robson pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court to controlling or coercive behaviour, assault causing actual bodily harm, and another assault charge. On 25 November 2020, he was sentenced to two years and three months behind bars.
He also received a five-year restraining order, keeping him away from his victim.
Police Warn: Speak Up Against Domestic Violence
“Robson continuously abused, isolated and tormented his victim during the vast majority of their relationship,” said DC Anneka Williams from West Kent Vulnerability Investigation Team.
“She suffered relentless mental anguish meant to humiliate and degrade her. She lived in fear, often fleeing to stay elsewhere rather than face him.”
