A dramatic police chase through Enfield ended with a crash on Carterhatch Lane last night after a suspected stolen vehicle, fitted with false number plates, collided with a wooden pole and knocked over a bicycle.
Witnesses reported seeing police pursue the blue car from the Brimsdown area up towards Carterhatch Lane, where the chase concluded. The vehicle, which appeared to be fleeing at high speed, lost control and struck a roadside pole, bringing the pursuit to an abrupt end.
Onlookers noted discrepancies with the vehicle’s registration plates. A check of the number plate revealed it was registered to a black car, not the blue car involved in the incident, leading police to believe the car was running on fake plates.

Emergency services quickly secured the scene. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported, although the damaged bicycle suggests a near miss for nearby cyclists or pedestrians.
Metropolitan Police have yet to confirm any arrests, but an investigation is underway into the origins of the vehicle and whether it had been stolen.
Residents in the area expressed concern over the increasing number of high-speed police pursuits in the borough. One eyewitness said:
“It was terrifying — we saw them flying past, and then bang, straight into the pole. It’s lucky nobody was seriously hurt.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident, has dashcam footage, or has information is urged to contact police on 101 quoting reference number for the incident.
