UK Set to Swelter in Hottest Spell of 2024 – Temps Soar to 28°C!
Heatwave on the Horizon
The UK is gearing up for its hottest weather stretch of the year so far, with temperatures forecast to hit a sizzling 28°C later this week, the Met Office has revealed.
Temps will steadily climb, starting with highs around 24°C to 25°C on Monday. The heatwave is expected to peak midweek—Wednesday or Thursday—with some spots possibly reaching a scorching 29°C.
Sunshine and Showers: Where Will the Rain Fall?
Widespread sunshine is set to flood much of the country, offering a much-needed taste of summer. Only northern Scotland faces the chance of some rain, while the rest of the UK enjoys clear, dry skies.
“Temperatures will rise day by day, with most places seeing plenty of sunshine. It’s likely we’ll record the hottest day of the year so far this week,” said a Met Office spokesperson.
This means the previous record for the hottest temperature of 2024, set earlier in the month, looks likely to be smashed.
Stay Safe in the Sun
- Health experts urge everyone to stay hydrated and slap on the sunblock.
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure during peak afternoon hours to prevent heatstroke and sunburn.
- Drivers should check their vehicles, as roads will get busier with people flocking to parks, beaches, and beauty spots to soak up the early summer vibes.
What’s Behind the Heat?
The surge in temperatures comes from a warm air mass rolling up from the south, pushing unusually high temperatures for late April and early May.
The sunny spell is expected to stick around until the end of the week before cooler air crashes the party over the weekend.
