Tragic Romford Blaze Claims Pensioner’s Life
A pensioner has died following a devastating house fire in Romford during the early hours of Wednesday, April 30.
Fire Rips Through End-Terrace Home on Belgrave Avenue
The blaze erupted at a residential property on Belgrave Avenue, ravaging the ground floor and part of the first floor of the end-of-terrace house.
London Fire Brigade received eight separate 999 calls before 4:40am. Five engines from Harold Hill, Romford, Hornchurch, and Dagenham fire stations rushed to the scene, with around 30 firefighters battling the flames.

A woman inside the house managed to escape before the crews arrived and was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. Another man from a neighbouring property also received treatment for smoke inhalation.

The fire was brought under control by 6:50am. London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police are conducting a joint investigation into the cause of the blaze.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the man’s family and friends during this difficult time,” said Borough Commander Paul McClenaghan.
