A driver in London learned the hard way after being stopped by Metropolitan Police dog handlers for driving without insurance.
The vehicle was seized on the spot under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act, which gives police powers to remove uninsured vehicles from the road.
The driver didn’t escape lightly — in addition to losing their car, they also received six penalty points on their licence, which could significantly impact their insurance costs and future driving record.
Police Statement
Officers from the Met at the scene said in a brief statement:
“A vehicle was stopped by Met Police dog unit officers. Checks revealed the driver had no insurance. The car was seized under Section 165, and the driver was issued six penalty points.
This action is part of the Metropolitan Police’s wider crackdown on uninsured and dangerous drivers across London.
