Court Round-Up: Driving Offences, Order Breaches and Suspended Sentences Across Bromley and Surrounding Areas

A series of hearings across Bromley and nearby magistrates’ courts in mid-June 2025 has resulted in suspended sentences, curfews, fines and penalty points for a range of offences including order breaches, drug possession, and speeding.

Breaches of Orders and Suspended Sentences

  • Thomas George Pearse, 33, of Robert Street, Plumstead, admitted breaching a suspended sentence order by missing five rehabilitation appointments between February and April.
    Sentence: Order varied to eight weeks’ imprisonment, suspended for 15 months.
    No fines or costs imposed.
  • Stephen Ward, 20, of St Keverne Road, Eltham, breached a community order originally imposed for stealing £2,121.31 of Nicorette products from Sainsbury’s in Ipswich.
    The court revoked the order and replaced it with a new one including:

    • Curfew from 5pm–7am until December 18, 2025
    • 25-day programme and 20 rehabilitation activity days
      No fines or costs imposed.
  • Eric Taylor, 57, of Barnfield Road, Orpington, admitted possessing a crack pipe in Lewisham, breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order.
    Sentence: 12 weeks’ imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, due to his role as sole carer for his elderly mother.
    No fines or costs imposed.

Driving Offences

  • Ranjit Nijher, 48, of Dunkery Road, Grove Park, was found guilty in absence of driving a BMW Z4 over 70mph on the A20 near Frognalls, Bromley, on January 14.
    Penalty:

    • £220 fine, £350 costs, £88 victim surcharge
    • Three penalty points added to licence
      Total: £658 due by 15 July 2025
  • Frederick Baxter, 36, of Salisbury Close, Tonbridge, made a statutory declaration before admitting to speeding at 10.33am on March 10, 2024, on the A20 Sidcup Bypass, where a temporary 40mph limit was in place.
    Penalty:

    • £72 fine, £28 surcharge, three penalty points
      Total: £100 due by 17 July 2025
