A joint investigation has been launched by the Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade following a fatal fire at a residential property in Bromley.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Bishops Road on Tuesday afternoon after 5.40pm after reports of a blaze breaking out at a house.
Fire crews worked swiftly to tackle the flames, but despite their best efforts, one person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The London Ambulance Service also attended and has been approached for an official statement. The identity of the deceased man has not yet been released, and formal identification is expected to take place in the coming days.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown. Specialist fire investigators are working alongside officers from the Met Police to determine how the blaze started. A crime scene remains in place, and the area is cordoned off while investigations continue.
A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade confirmed that multiple fire engines attended the scene and that crews faced challenging conditions.
