School Bus Overturns in Sandy Creek, Texas – 16 Children Injured

Sixteen children have been injured after a school bus carrying 40 pupils overturned in Sandy Creek, North-Northwest Travis County.

Emergency services were called to Nameless Road near Sandy Creek earlier today following reports that the bus had rolled onto its side. Paramedics treated multiple children at the scene, with several transported to nearby hospitals for further care.

Authorities have confirmed that no fatalities and no life-threatening injuries have been reported. The injured range from minor cuts and bruises to suspected fractures.

Judge’s Statement

In a statement on social media, Travis County Judge Andy Brown said:

“I’m aware of the Leander ISD school bus crash near Sandy Creek on Nameless Rd. Thankfully, no fatalities or life-threatening injuries reported among kids.
TCSO, ATCEMS, ESD1 & StarFlight responded quickly & are on scene. Reunification center is at Round Mountain Baptist Church.”

Major Emergency Response

Travis County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO), Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS), Emergency Services District 1 (ESD1), and a StarFlight helicopter all attended the incident. Part of Nameless Road was closed while crews worked to free trapped children and secure the site.

Parents were notified promptly, and uninjured pupils were transported to Round Mountain Baptist Church, which has been set up as a reunification center.

Investigation Underway

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Early reports suggest the bus may have swerved to avoid an obstacle before overturning. Officials are urging any witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage to contact the Travis County Sheriff’s Office.
