Four Britons Killed in Horror Crash in Germany

Tragedy struck in central Germany when a car carrying four Britons — two married couples — careered off the road and slammed into trees. The fatal smash happened just after midnight on Saturday in the Kassel district, north of Hesse.

Crash Details: Car Veers Off at Speed

German police confirmed the British-registered vehicle sped off the highway before ending up wedged between trees about 30 metres from the road. Despite a huge emergency response, all four passengers were declared dead at the scene.

Victims Identified

The victims were a 32-year-old man, a 31-year-old woman, and two women aged 32 and 30. Authorities revealed the two couples were travelling together. The crash was first reported when one passenger’s mobile phone automatically sent an emergency SOS signal to German responders, pinpointing their location.

Emergency Services Battle to Reach Victims

Fire crews, ambulances, and command teams from Feuerwehr Reinhardshagen raced to the scene. The car was lying on its side, crushed tightly between heavy woodland trees. Rescuers had to cut away the roof before discovering all four inside — tragically beyond help.

UK Officials Yet to Be Contacted

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) said it is monitoring the situation, though UK officials had not yet been approached for consular assistance. Police in Kassel are currently investigating whether speed, driver fatigue, or road conditions caused the fatal crash.
