Reading Festival Near Incident, But No Links to Attendees

The incident happened less than a mile from the Reading Festival site, but detectives confirmed those involved did not attend the event.

“We understand this unexplained death and arrest will be of concern but we do not believe there is any threat to the wider public,” said Detective Inspector Alice Broad of the Major Crime Unit. “While we have arrested a man on suspicion of murder, the woman’s death is currently unexplained and the suspect remains in our custody.”

Victim Believed to Know Suspect – Next of Kin Not Yet Informed

DI Broad added: “The deceased woman hasn’t been formally identified as we have not yet contacted her next of kin, but we believe she was staying locally and knew the suspect. We ask the public to be respectful and considerate in any online posts, as her loved ones are unaware at this stage.

“This is a complex investigation in its early stages. We are pursuing several lines of enquiry to uncover the full circumstances surrounding her death.”

Police Cordons in Place as Coroner Notified

A police cordon remained at the scene on Tuesday but is expected to be lifted later in the day. The coroner has been informed and an investigation is ongoing.
