Life Sentence for Tottenham Gunman After Child Left Devastated

Gunman Who Orchestrated Attack Jailed for 34 Years

A man behind a horrifying shooting that left a nine-year-old girl with life-altering injuries has been locked up for life, with a minimum of 34 years behind bars. Javon Riley, 33, from Moselle Street, Tottenham, was sentenced at the Old Bailey on Friday, 12 September, following a dramatic three-week trial.

Shocking Attack Outside Busy Dalston Eatery

On Wednesday, 29 May 2024, Riley hired a gunman to open fire outside a packed restaurant on Kingsland Road, Dalston. Chaos erupted as the shooter fired multiple shots. A bullet struck the young girl in the brain while she enjoyed ice cream with her family. Three men were also hit, each requiring emergency surgery to save their lives.

Cold, Calculated Crime Exposed

  • Riley stalked the area for days, even hiding in a bar opposite the restaurant.
  • He drove a stolen car past the scene multiple times to spot his targets.
  • After the shooting, he helped the gunman flee and disposed of the weapon – which remains missing.

A £15,000 reward is now on offer for information leading to the gunman’s arrest.

Justice Served, But Pain Remains

“Riley will face the consequences of his actions behind bars. Actions that traumatically derailed the life of a little girl,” said Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke. “While this outcome shows justice can be served, it will never undo the suffering caused to her or her family.”

The injured girl’s mother heartbreakingly shared, “In a single moment, the future we had imagined for our daughter was torn away. We live with this pain every day, knowing nothing will ever be the same for our family.”
