Racist Fury Outside Mosque Ends in Knife Chaos

Callum Mcinally, 29, sparked outrage and fear when he launched a vile attack outside 1 Jami Mosque. On Sunday, 31 August, as men, women, and children prayed, Mcinally hurled vile racial abuse. When confronted, he punched a man in the chest, kicked a prayer mat, and spat more racist slurs. But Mcinally wasn’t done. He came back wielding a knife. Police sirens forced him to drop the blade and flee the scene.

Fast Justice for Hate-Fuelled Assault

Mcinally’s reign of terror came to a swift end. On 2 September, he pled guilty at portsmouth/" title="Portsmouth" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Portsmouth Magistrates Court to:

  • Racially and religiously aggravated common assault
  • Assault by beating
  • Racially and religiously aggravated harassment causing distress
  • Threatening with a blade in public

Less than a month later, on 3 October, Portsmouth Crown Court slammed him with a 20-month prison sentence. The message: hate crimes will be crushed.

Prosecutor’s Stark Warning to Hate Criminals

“There is nowhere to hide for those spreading hate, malice and prejudice in our communities,” said Harvey Withecombe from the Crown Prosecution Service. “We acted swiftly and robustly to bring Mcinally to justice.”
