Tragedy in Melksham as Cheryl Decarteret Dies After Crash
Beloved Local Woman Lost in Collision
Melksham is mourning the loss of Cheryl Decarteret, who died following a collision on Saturday, September 27. Cheryl, a cherished mother and grandmother, was well known across the community for her kind heart and warm spirit.
Her family shared an emotional tribute: “Cheryl was a much-loved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was born in Bradford on Avon and grew up in Holt before moving to Melksham. She was loved and cherished by many.”
Lifetime of Hard Work and Community Spirit
Cheryl began working at Avon Rubber at 18, alongside her best friend Margaret Shaw, who was also critically injured in the crash and remains in hospital.
“Cheryl loved her garden and was looking forward to spending more time tending it after retiring a few years ago,” her family revealed. Known for her active involvement in the community, she often helped friends with shopping, appointments, and laundry.
Family Left Devastated
Cheryl leaves behind a son, two daughters, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Her family said: “She enjoyed spending time with her family and would often holiday with them. She will be greatly missed and has left a massive hole in our close family. We will love and miss her forever.”
