Fire Crews Race to Portsmouth After Burning Plastic Smell and Fire Alarm
Firefighters were scrambled to Northend, Portsmouth, after the public reported a strong smell of burning plastic and a fire alarm blaring from a home.
Alarm Raised by Neighbours
Just after 9.30pm on Thursday, teams from Cosham and Southsea fire stations were called to a property on Balfour Road. Locals alerted the emergency services following the suspicious smell and the persistent sound of a smoke alarm.
Unattended Pan Sparks Kitchen Fire
Upon arrival, crews launched a thorough search inside the house. They discovered an unattended pan that had caught fire, causing damage to the kitchen area.
No Injuries Reported
Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident, but fire crews quickly brought the blaze under control to prevent further damage.
The cause of the fire is believed to be an unattended cooking accident. Firefighters urge residents to never leave pans unattended on the stove.
