Man Dies After Brutal Attack Outside St Leonards Sainsbury’s – Three Arrested
A 40-year-old man has tragically died following a violent attack outside a Sainsbury’s in St Leonards.
Deadly Incident Outside Sainsbury’s
Police were scrambled to John McAdam Way, near Sedlescombe Road North, at 9.45pm on Tuesday (2 July) after reports of an assault. Despite swift efforts from officers and paramedics, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three Men Arrested and Released Under Investigation
Three suspects aged 28, 24, and 53 were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter. They have since been released on bail, pending further investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Alex Geldart from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team said: “This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this time. We would like to hear from anyone who was in the store or just outside the entrance on Tuesday evening at about 9.30pm who may have witnessed something which could help with our investigation.”
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Anyone who was near the store or has mobile phone footage is urged to contact police online or call 101, quoting Operation Millbank.
Independent Police Probe Underway
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has launched a separate investigation following a mandatory referral from Sussex Police’s Professional Standards Department, due to police attendance at the scene.
