It’s official – Essex County Fire & Rescue Service has one of  the UK most skillful ‘extrication teams’, in the UK

It’s official – Essex County Fire & Rescue Service has one of  the UK most skillful ‘extrication teams’, following the 2019 UK Rescue Challenge held at the Derbyshire Fire and Rescue joint training centre in Ripley over the weekend.

 

The extrication team  competed against 23 other RTC and Medic team in the annual event organised by UKRO and the host service of Derbyshire fire and Rescue. Challenges included: staged rope rescues, water rescues, vehicle rescues, and urban search and rescue contests.

 

As well as coming first in the team event there were also individual plaudits for the officer in charge, Kevin Mitson, finished third in their fields at the challenge as Officer in Charge.

Kevin Mitson  from Essex Fire and Rescue  said: “It was a great result and reflected a great effort  and hard work  that the team have put in.

“We have all worked hard training and it was good to see the work paying off and to know that the techniques and procedures we have been using are in line with the judges’ expectations. These skill also the passed on to help save lives in and around the county.
