Elderly Pensioner Brutally Attacked After Facing Down Burglar
Police are hunting crooks who targeted a frail pensioner during a terrifying early-morning burglary in Vauxhall. At 2:25am on Wednesday, March 4, masked intruders broke into a home on Herm Road while the 90-something occupant slept. One thug silenced the lady by covering her mouth as they rifled through the property. They stole cash before fleeing.
The elderly woman was rushed to hospital, suffering shock and bruises to her face. Detectives have launched a full investigation, including house-to-house enquiries, forensic work, and CCTV trawls in the neighbourhood.
Cowardly Crime Shocks Community
“Everyone has the right to feel safe and secure in their own homes and this was a particularly cowardly and despicable incident involving an elderly lady who was left badly shaken and with visible injuries,” said Detective Sergeant Richie Shillito.
He added: “I’m certain the public will be horrified by this attack. If you were near Herm Road in the early hours and spotted anything suspicious, or have dash-cam or CCTV footage, please come forward. Your info could help us catch these criminals and get justice.”
