Loaded Gun and Huge Knife Seized in Southwark Police Bust
Police swooped on two men in Southwark, recovering a loaded gun and a large knife thanks to a quick-thinking stop and search.
Suspects Flee Officers in Bermondsey
Just after 9.10pm on Tuesday, 11 August, Violent Crime Task Force officers spotted two men, aged 18 and 20, acting suspiciously on Amina Way, Bermondsey. The duo turned away and bolted down Lucey Way when spotted.
Knife and Firearm Found After Foot Chase
After a swift foot chase, police detained the pair. Officers found a knife abandoned outside a nearby address and discovered a bag in another garden containing a loaded gun and at least three rounds of ammo.

Police Sergeant Leon Coltress said: “Thanks to proactive work by our officers, a loaded gun and large knife have been taken off London’s streets.”
“Stop and search is a vital tool that helps us confiscate deadly weapons and arrest violent offenders.”
“I’m certain these arrests prevented a serious incident last night in Central South Borough. Our officers deploy daily to keep Londoners safe.”
The suspects remain in custody, facing charges of firearm possession, ammunition, and carrying an offensive weapon.
