Danger on A45: Double Yellow Lines Repainted to Tackle Parking Chaos at Stanwick Lakes
Visitors to 1 Lakes in Northamptonshire have been causing chaos by parking along the narrow driveway and entrance, backlogging onto the busy A45 and creating a serious safety risk.
Faded Lines Spark Safety Concern
The once-clear double yellow lines along the road and entrance had faded into near invisibility. This left drivers unsure and led to illegal parking snaking onto the main road.
Highways England Steps In
The Rockingham Forest Trust called on the A45/A6 Chowns Mill roundabout improvements team for an urgent fix. Contractors WJ (North) Ltd, Chevron TM, and Carnell Group donated materials and manpower to repaint the crucial double yellow lines.
Dean Holloway, Highways 1 Project Manager: “Safety is always our number one priority. We were proud to help tackle the dangerous parking issues at Stanwick Lakes. These fresh double yellow lines will send a clear message — it’s not safe to park here.”
Community Thanks and Safety Boost
Alyson Allfree of Rockingham Forest Trust said:
“We’re very grateful to everyone involved for their advice, generosity, and support. This timely effort during National Customer Service Week helps keep visitors and drivers safe.”
The repainting took place on Thursday as part of Highways England’s ‘Everything you do matters’ campaign, highlighting their commitment to public safety and service.
