Police Officer Seriously Injured in Hit-and-Run on Stanford Road, Grays

A police officer was hospitalised with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Grays on Saturday morning. The shocking incident happened shortly before 8am on 31 October on Stanford Road.

Driver Fled Scene After Collision

The drama unfolded when police ordered a car to stop. Instead, the driver initially ignored the officer’s signal. When the officer approached on foot, the vehicle struck them and then sped off.

Victim Airlifted to Hospital

An air ambulance rushed the officer to hospital. The injuries are serious but, thankfully, not life-threatening or life-changing.

Two Arrested in Connection With the Incident

  • A 45-year-old woman from Chadwell St. Mary was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, failing to stop, and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
  • A 22-year-old man from Grays was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.
