Toddler Dies After Horrific Assault in Northwich
Brandon Heath, 22, launched a savage attack on a 22-month-old girl at a house in Northwich on 30 August 2020, Cheshire Police confirmed. The toddler, whose identity remains protected by law, died the following day.
Heath Lies to Emergency Services
After the assault, Heath falsely claimed he found the little girl “collapsed on the floor.” Emergency responders discovered her unresponsive and barely breathing. Despite emergency neurosurgery, the toddler could not be saved.
Gruesome Injuries Reveal Shocking Truth
A post-mortem showed the child suffered a massive brain injury, bleeding around her eyes, bruises, broken ribs, and nerve damage to her neck. The injuries were so severe they were compared by a pathologist to those sustained in a road traffic crash or a multi-storey fall.
Monster Sentenced, Family Speaks Out
Heath, who has no fixed address, was arrested in July 2021. Although cleared of murder, he was found guilty of manslaughter at Chester Crown Court and sentenced to 13 years and six months behind bars.
The toddler’s mother called Heath a “monster” and thanked police for “bringing the truth to light and bringing that monster to justice,” while saying her “heart aches every day.”
Detective Inspector Adam Waller described the case as “indescribably tragic,” highlighting the brutal and sudden nature of the attack.
