Sir David Amess Stabbing: Harrowing Courtroom Revelations

Sir David Amess, Southend West MP, was brutally stabbed over 20 times during a constituency surgery at Belfairs Methodist Church in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, on October 15. The shocking attack has sent shockwaves across the country.

The Arrest: Police Confront Armed Suspect

Officers burst into the church, shouting “drop the knife!” as they confronted Ali Harbi Ali, 26, who stood bloodied and armed in the aisle. Despite warnings the suspect was armed, PCs Scott James and Ryan Curtis entered armed only with a baton and incapacitant spray.

PC Curtis told the court: “He was holding a blood-stained knife in his hand.”

Bodycam footage showed the tense standoff. Officers chose not to wait for backup armed with a Taser. After a stand-off, Ali dropped the weapon and was handcuffed.

Suspect’s Shocking Statements

Immediately after his arrest, Ali was reportedly on the phone to his sister, calmly saying, “My phone’s rung, it’s the family. Don’t worry. The police got me. They’re not gonna shoot.”

During the booking at Southend Police Station, Ali described the attack as “Terror. Religious,” indicating a terror-related motive.

He told police: “I was prepared to die.”

Plot Uncovered: Years of Target Research

Evidence presented to the Old Bailey revealed Ali’s years-long research into high-profile politicians, including Michael Gove, Dominic Raab, and Sir Keir Starmer. CCTV showed his journey from his Kentish Town home in north London to Leigh-on-Sea on the day of the attack.

Ali denies charges of murder and preparing acts of terrorism, but the trial continues as the nation demands justice for Sir David.
