Man Killed in Shocking Assault at Lakeside Shopping Centre
Police raced to Lakeside shopping centre shortly before 4.30pm on Thursday 28 April following reports of a serious assault. Despite emergency services’ best efforts, the injured man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two Arrested Over Murder
Essex Police’s Major Investigation Team swiftly arrested two suspects: a 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman. Both remain in custody on suspicion of murder, currently being questioned by detectives.
A third suspect, a 23-year-old man held on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, has since been released without charge.
Investigation Underway, Community Reassured
“Our investigation into this murder is progressing well and my team have worked hard through the day and night,” said Detective Chief Inspector Ashley Howard.
“We are actively pursuing numerous leads and leaving no stone unturned. Based on current information, there is no threat to the wider community. Lakeside remains a safe place.”
“Our officers have also been patrolling the shopping centre in high visibility uniforms, reassuring visitors and urging anyone with information to come forward.”
