Vile Abuser John Kirby Jailed for Over Four Years
John Kirby has been slammed with a four-and-a-half-year prison sentence after confessing to horrific violence against his partner. His brutal attack spree stretched from January 2018 to August 2019.
Relentless Abuse Revealed
Kirby subjected his victim to unending physical and mental torture. He punched and kicked her in the head, dragged her by the hair, and once shoved her down the stairs while she was pregnant. He then throttled her until she passed out.
The 42-year-old didn’t stop there. He spat on her, locked her inside their home, and hid her car keys to trap her. Kirby threw food in her face and destroyed her clothes as part of his twisted mind games.
Shocking Police Investigation Uncovers Horror
The full nightmare came to light after a violent outburst in August 2019, witnessed by a young child. While driving in Wye, Ashford, Kirby threw chips at his partner then punched her in the face. When the car stopped, he pushed her to the floor and repeatedly kicked her in front of the child.
Kent Police uncovered secret recordings where Kirby threatened to burn her with hair straighteners and kill her by suffocation, boasting he would bury her body in his garden.
Justice Served at Maidstone Crown Court
Kirby pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm and four counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Two additional charges, including controlling and coercive behaviour, were left on file.
On May 13, 2022, Kirby of Still Lane, Southborough, Tunbridge Wells, was handed a four year and six month jail term. He will also face a restraining order on release.
PC Gabriella Edir said: “People like Kirby make victims’ lives an absolute misery. He has used extreme fear and threats of violence as tools to exert control over almost every aspect of this woman’s life and even after their relationship ended continued to terrorise her with appalling violence and chilling threats.”
“We have been determined to get justice for the victim, whose bravery has undoubtedly helped us build a successful case, and one which left Kirby with no choice but to plead guilty.”
“Tackling domestic abuse remains a key priority for Kent Police. We urge victims to come forward, knowing they will receive the best possible support. Remember, you are not to blame for what is happening and you can report it to us or contact support organisations who can and will help you.”
