Neighbourhood Horror: Man Found Guilty of Sexually Assaulting Two Girls Under 13
Huseyin Berk, 45, from Hackney’s Amhurst Park, was found guilty on Wednesday, 29 June at Snaresbrook Crown Court. He was convicted of two counts of sexual assault by penetration against one girl under 13, and one count involving another young victim.
Victims Courageously Speak Out After Being Threatened
The nightmare started when Berk, a local dog walker, lured the girls into a disused garage and abused them repeatedly between April and October 2018. He warned the children with chilling threats: “If you tell anyone, bad things will happen.” A brave relative reported the crimes to police in November 2018.
Met Police Crack Down on Child Sex Offences
Detective Constable Kevin Flynn revealed how Berk used his dog to gain the girls’ trust. “They often saw him walking his dog while playing outside,” Flynn explained. “He encouraged them to pet the dog, then exploited that trust for his own sick pleasure.”
“Throughout this, we have ensured the children received specialised care. Their bravery led to Berk’s conviction.”
Berk was arrested in November 2018 and charged in August 2021 after a detailed investigation by officers specialising in child sexual offences.
The Met Police stressed they treat all child sex offences with the utmost seriousness. “We will always seek the harshest punishment for offenders,” said the force. Victims are urged to come forward and report abuse without fear.
Sentencing Set for September
Berk will be sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court in September on a date yet to be confirmed.
