Police Crack Down on Online Sex Ads in Major UK Operation
Police launched a major operation in early September after spotting suspicious sexual service ads online. The crackdown kicked off with a search warrant at a Blackburn property, snowballing into raids across Accrington, St Helens, Hertfordshire, and beyond.
Multiple Arrests and Safeguarded Women
The swoops led to several arrests and the rescue of multiple women believed to be exploited. Mobile phones were seized for forensic analysis as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Accrington Man Charged Over Brothel Control
On Tuesday, October 11, 47-year-old Hongli Yi from Whalley Road, Accrington, was arrested on suspicion of keeping a brothel. After consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Yi was charged with controlling prostitution.
He appeared before Blackburn magistrates yesterday morning and was remanded in custody.
